Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to look into the possibility of a new writing-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress.

This first step into writing is suitable for complete beginners.
Creative Writing 1 examines the basic skills needed to begin writing non-fiction, fiction, scripts and poetry. Learners will work on a variety of tasks to include developing a fictional character and writing a short autobiographical text.
Medway Adult Education offers a range of English courses, which those with lower levels of English might find useful to enable them to make further progress with their creative writing.

The learning will take place through written exercises, class discussion and reading, Learners will be introduced to the basic techniques of creative writing.

Learners will:
1 Write the outline or plot for a short story or script.
2 Write a 500-word short story.
3 Write a poem in a recognised form.

This first step into writing is suitable for complete beginners.
Prosp Suitable
This course is suitable for beginners with little or no previous experience of Creative Writing. There will be a written assignment to be completed each week, these can usually be completed in 1-2 hours, but this can vary.
Prosp Anything Else
Learners may wish to obtain books, and some other materials, related to this course but that is optional. The tutor will advise once on course.

In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 85%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed.
