Course Description
This nationally recognised qualification is designed to introduce learners to the principles of climate change and the role they can play to reduce carbon emissions. Through engaging in this course learners will develop the understanding of strategies to reduce pollution and drive change in the home, work life and wider society.

Learners will improve their awareness of the environment and carbon footprints; exploring ways to reduce this, improve lifestyle and protect the environment. The knowledge gained through participating in this course can be applied to several sectors.

Learners will be given access to resources. Learners will create an online portfolio of work to demonstrate and apply knowledge. Learners will complete 3 mandatory units:
• Understand climate change, sustainability and environmental protection
• Understand industry and the environment
• Understand resource efficiency and waste management

The objectives of this course include:
• become familiar with the basics of the environment and climate change
• develop an understanding of environmental protection and the action that can be taken within the workplace to mitigate the damaging impact of industry on the environment
• explore how the lifestyle of an individual can be environmentally detrimental, while offering an insight into ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

This is a knowledge only qualification. There are no exams, observations or assessment of work-based learning. There is no work placement or industry experience required. Although learners may find this helpful.
Learners will produce an online portfolio of evidence. This will be internally assessed and quality assured. All elements will need to be completed to achieve the qualification.

There are no classes to attend. You can study this course from the comfort of your home at a time that suits you. However, it is essential you aim to meet all submission deadlines. You will receive email support from an assigned assessor. They will give you feedback on your work and help you to improve as required.

This is an online course. You will need access to the internet and a computer or tablet. We may be able to support learners with access to equipment subject to meeting certain criteria.
You will be given access to a website with materials to develop your understanding of the concepts. You may need to conduct some research and access industry related websites to support this. You will need to type your answers into the learning platform using your own words. You cannot copy and paste your answers. This is to prevent plagiarism
