Course Description

Course Description
This course is designed for those who have some experience in painting and drawing and will help you to further develop your work in your chosen media or/and explore other techniques. These classes are wholly practical with demonstrations by the Tutor in relation to personal and group projects.
During the course there will always be the opportunity to do a collective project, working together looking at a particular aspect of painting, drawing and subject but generally throughout, the tutor will work with you individually or in smaller groups depending on subject and media interests.
Throughout the course it will help to keep a note book, to be used in any way you wish, which will form part of a portfolio of work including your own personal research. This is an excellent way of recording your abilities and achievements and will contribute to any plans you may have to pursue further studies in the Creative and Fine Arts.
Prosp Description
Learners will:
1. Continue to develop your drawing ability using various dry media.
2. Continue to develop your ability to translate the third dimension into a two-dimensional image using perspective, light and shadow and working from still life and various other resources.
3. Continue to develop your ability to paint/work in various media (watercolour, acrylic, water based/traditional oils.)

Prosp Learn
Please bring to the lesson:
• Your own materials and work box.
• Examples of your work if possible.
Every opportunity is afforded to help you to develop your work no matter what your stage of ability. On the whole most people can draw in the same way people can write. It is dependant wholly on your particular aspirations and to what level you want to develop your chosen media or you may be interested in experimenting and moving to pastures new.
Prosp Anything Else
You will need to bring your own materials for this course. Any materials you do not have already and may wish to use will need to be purchased during the course, your tutor will be happy to advise you on any purchases. Paper is available at minimal cost from the college and subject to availability.

There are many other arts and craft courses on offer at Medway Adult Education. You may wish to concentrate or develop your skills with a particular medium such as painting in oils or advanced watercolour for example. The skills learnt on this course are fully transferable to most courses within creative arts. We have a BTEC Art and Design Skills course that you could progress towards.
Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as Mid Kent Medway School of Art and the University of Kent; information about their courses can be found in our studios, café and on Moodle. Medway has an exciting and wide-range of events, exhibitions, and activities to inspire and help you make further progress - please see the community noticeboards in the Rochester Centre and again on Moodle. Your tutor will be able to talk through with your individual progression options.

Your tutor will be happy to advise you about progression courses, including those offered by other providers.
