This workshop is designed for those who would like to make a piece of decorative sculpture using clay and basic techniques - Green man

About your tutor
Rachele has a fine art and teaching background with an expertise in sculpture and finds her inspiration from nature and her surroundings in the Kent countryside. Since 2017 Rachele has been a very valued member of the teaching staff at MAE, delivering a range of courses across all abilities.

Learners will

1. Develop 1 sculpture design.
2. Use a variety of handbuilding tools.
3. Decorate the sculpture.


learners will also be expectd to observe appropriate health & safety requirements in the pottery studio as set out in the MAE ground rules /learner contract

Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run:

Please bring to your session:

• An apron/protective clothing and sturdy footwear is essential for Health and Safety reasons. It is recommended that you do not wear anything you value highly. No open toed shoes.

• A notebook and pen. There is a lot of information on some aspects of ceramics and you will be glad of a notebook for reference.


Some of the guided learning hours will be used to set the group and individual learning targets for the course. Learners will then have time to revisit these targets with the tutor to assess progress


Prosp Anything Else
An amount of clay is included within the course fees, all of the items made during the course will be glazed with the learner’s choice of colour.

A collection day for the finished piece will be arranged with the tutor
