Course Description
Due to the current and evolving situation with Covid 19, the delivery methods of this course are subject to change. There may be times when the lessons will be held remotely, via live video calls, use of our Moodle area, private social media groups etc. By signing up to the course you are agreeing to this wide range of teaching and learning approaches; the lessons will be held in classrooms where this is usually the case, when it is safe to do so, and may be switched to online as the need arises.
This course is planned to start in a classroom, and with reduced group sizes to allow for distancing.
All learners and carers will need to adhere to the Covid guidelines relevant at the time of this course, including those from the government, council and MAE, relating to the centres, classrooms and resources and materials.

This course is aimed at those who can communicate confidently in a wide range of everyday situations including making arrangements, describing activities in all tenses, as well as answering general enquiries. This course will be delivered following an outline providing plenty of class activities and self-study opportunities.
Prosp Description
Learners will confidently use the present, past and future tenses in a wide range of situations such as:
1.How to write a letter of thanks and express gratitude
2.How to use the language of selling and buying
3.How to follow instructions and making recommendations
4.How to explain problems, how to complain and how to deal with a complaint
The following grammatical points will be covered:
- the immediate past
- the gerunds
- the conditional
- introduction of the subjunctive
Whilst
1. gaining knowledge of all aspects of French culture
2. consolidating speech with numerous phonetical exercises
3. learning strategies to continue learning outside of the classroom
It would be preferable to have followed a level 3 or 4 course or have an equivalent ability in the language, e.g. a past qualification, such as GCSE or O/A level.

USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:
• Use of BBC website.
• References for access to France Inter and Europe1.co.fr radio stations.
• References for access to TF1, M6 and Arte replay.co.fr TV channels.
• Access to duo lingo

Bring pen and paper, a folder with dividers is useful for notes and handouts. Additional learning materials will be made available on the Moodle website (www.macls.com)
Time spent between lessons on the language is beneficial: watching films or TV, listening to the radio and music in the language. Homework will be set on a weekly basis to consolidate class activities.
Various learning strategies will be used to address learners’ needs ranging from pair and group work, around the table participation, role plays, activities in all 4 skills.

Medway Adult Education has a range of language courses available in Italian, Spanish and French. Your tutor will discuss your progression with you on the course as you work towards both group and your own individual goals. Before the end of the course, you will be given all the information as to what is recommended for you to progress onto, e.g. the next level.
