Course Description
Due to the current and evolving situation with Covid 19 the delivery methods of this course are subject to change. there may be times when the lessons will be held remotely, via online live video calls, use of our Moodle area, private social media groups etc. By signing up to the course you are agreeing to this wide range of teaching and learning approaches; the lessons will be held in classrooms where this is usually the case, when it is safe to do so, and may be switched to online as the need arises.
This course is planned to start in a classroom, and with reduced group sizes to allow for distancing.
Face masks: these may be compulsory depending on latest government advice and tutor requirements. Please note when moving from your seat in the classroom you will be required to be wearing your mask.
During this course learners will explore the imagery, history and art theories of photographic art.

1. Learn about the early pioneers of photography and analyse imagery created by a range of iconic photographers
2. Consider photographic theories by writers including Roland Barthes and Susan Sontag.
3. Explore the development of the photograph album

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in visual arts however we recommend our online art appreciation course for those without prior learning or knowledge of art. Prosp Suitable
This is an advanced art history course, it is not a practical photographic course.

If you do have a holiday booked during term time please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. This is one session course- please attend for the duration of the lesson. If you enrol and then cannot attend please inform us as soon as possible so that your place can be given to someone else
