Course Description

Course Description
Due to the current and evolving situation with Covid 19, the delivery methods of this course are subject to change. There may be times when the lessons will be held remotely, via live video calls, use of our Moodle area, private social media groups etc. By signing up to the course you are agreeing to this wide range of teaching and learning approaches; the lessons will be held in classrooms where this is usually the case, when it is safe to do so, and may be switched to online as the need arises.

This course is planned to start in a classroom, and with reduced group sizes to allow for distancing.
All learners and carers will need to adhere to the Covid guidelines relevant at the time of this course, including those from the government, council and MAE, relating to the centres, classrooms and resources and materials.

Medway Adult Education and Medway Council are proud to offer local residents with learning difficulties and disabilities our Supported Learning programme, which provides a range of creative and practical subjects. We aim to empower our learners, with appropriate challenge and stimulation to build confidence and contribute to them leading fuller lives, including more engagement in the community and helping independence.

It is possible to start courses throughout the year, and pro-rata payment options are available. So if you see a course has already started and there are spaces on there then it will be possible to join.

Every course has a Learning Support Assistant, working with the tutor.

Your tutor will speak to you about progression courses. Over the year there will be opportunities to try out new activities at Medway Adult Education, such as in our taster mornings- this then may inspire you to try a longer course in a new subject. We also inform our learners about what other learning options are available in Medway- linking to partners, other providers and local events.

Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as UCA and the University of Kent; information about their courses can be found in our studios, café and on Moodle. Medway has an exciting and wide-range of events, exhibitions and activities to inspire and help you make further progress- please see the community noticeboards in the Rochester centre and again on Moodle. Your tutor will be able to talk through with your individual progression options.
