Course Description
Learn to design and create a pair of ear rings using copper. You will create a design plan for this basic project and transfer those designs to the material to create a one of a kind pair of earrings using basic maths skills to determine size and shape.

All resources will be supplied free of charge.

If you are aged 19 and over and do not have Maths at level 2 or equivalent, you can access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build your confidence with numbers and learn a new skill in our professional studios.

This is a repeat of the copper ear-ring course that ran in September 2023. If you attended then, you will not be eligible to attend this course.

• Measure irregular shapes using metric units.
• Weigh items using metric units.
• Convert measurements from metric to imperial and vice versa.

This course in an excellent starting point for beginners who want to explore basic metalworking and metal smithing skills or for those with a little experience who want to revisit skills.

Please bring your own apron/ overall.
If you have a pair of safety glasses, please bring them along. There will be some pairs available in the studio.

You will need to follow the rules of the Jewellery studio studio to maintain Health & Safety procedures and to keep yourself and others safe.

In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
