Course Description
This course is designed to not only enable parents / carers to learn how to massage their babies but also allow them to meet other parents / carers.
The programme will give parents/carers the knowledge to practice massage safely with their babies. They will also learn how to understand their baby’s non-verbal cues, when is the best time to massage, suitable oils to use, how stress affects babies, how they deal with stress and how babies self-calm. Learners should be able to consolidate what they have learnt by confidently demonstrating they can massage the legs, and abdomen, chest, head and face and back correctly and can safely complete a full massage by the end of the course.



Please do not buy tools and equipment until you know that the course will run.
Prosp Description
Learners will:
1. Understand the massage technique and baby's non-verbal ques.
2. Demonstrate at least one massage correctly.
3. Form social connections within the group.
Prosp Learn
Babies should be 6 weeks old to crawling age. One child per adult.
Prosp Suitable
GP consent should be sought before commencing the massage, should your baby have any health/medical concerns.

Parents/carers are responsible for the welfare/massage of their baby.

You will need to prepare the following tools and equipment before the start of the course:

An Infant Massage Health Check Form, must be completed.

A patch test should be undertaken on your baby, to ensure that the oil used is suitable for use on your baby.

Please bring the following:
• A towel to lay baby on
• A cushion or pillow to lay baby on for the some of the session (optional)

Families will need to provide their own massage oil.

In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed.

It is your responsibility to ensure that by participating in classes and activities from Medway Adult Education, you will be responsible for the welfare of your baby and will have completed the Infant Health Check and Oil Patch Test on your baby.
